Dining By Design - Architectural Digest Show - Part 1

These past two weeks in New York have been jam packed with eye candy for art enthusiast, designers and fashionistas.
Between the Pier Antique Show last weekend and the Architectural Digest Show, you will be as excited and perhaps as overwhelmed as I feel about all the new finds I will be sharing.

To start the Architectural Digest Show coverage, I have to start with one of my favorite parts of this show; the Dining By Design exhibition, by Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.

Not only is it a showcase for many designers and brands and their creative *out-of-the-box* thinking, but it is all in the aid of a fantastic cause. A combo made in heaven!

As explained in their press release:
DIFFA, founded in 1984 by Patricia Green and Larry Pond, it is one of the country’s largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Merging care and commerce, supporters of DIFFA come from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design.

Patricia Green continues to be active with DIFFA as an ex officio member of the DIFFA Board of Trustees. Sadly, Larry Pond died of AIDS in October 1992.

As an integral part of the Architectural Digest Show, many designers helped create spectacular dining masterpieces - not only about the table setting but entire worlds of wonder.

Today's post shares only but a few of the first tables that caught my eye.. and many, many more to come.

This table had a playful use of the small designer collection chair models as part of the table setting,

I leave you with this last image of a 2 story dining hideout for Hayneedle, which end the first part of my Dining by Design coverage.

Stay tuned for so much more in part 2.

  3. Hi Jennifer. Did you saw Boca do Lobo's space? I saw some photos of their presence in the Exhibition, but isn't possible to get a good visualization of the ambient in there.
