Home is Where the Heart Is - Margareet Cevasco and Vasi Ypsilantis

Visiting the Home is Where the Heart Is showhouse, with these designers
and the team from Kravet / Ronald MCDonald House Project Design

Touring the Home is Where the Heart Is showhouse with the friends from Kravet, and the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island #ProjectDesign was the very best way to see this showcase this holiday.
I have shared posts on Kim, Suzanne as well as Gail and Anne Tarasoff's design so far as they worked on both of these showhouses this season.. and today I thought it would be nice to share the work of two designers, that have collaborated so extremely well in remodeling both kitchens and dining spaces in both of these homes.
One kitchen would be no small task.. but they accomplished two great schemes, very distinct from one another and with amazing results in proving that "us" designers really know how to work together in harmony

Margreet Cevasco and Vasi Ypsilantis are a team to be reckoned with.

and just look at that ceiling!

pretty pop of color and pattern ..

but what blew me away was this custom wooden counter that Vasi made on this island.. the wood was beautiful.. it added a much needed element of warmth in this large kitchen and could not have been more gorgeous!

and for those of us that love to cook.. your own private herb garden right at your finger tips.

inspiration board for this kitchen / dining area presented at Newell

The colors, pleated blue wallcovering and comfortable seating areas for tea for two or in the dining hall.. this kitchen makeover was incredible!

These were both another example of two amazing designers and women that I had the privilege of getting to know in the Project Design event.
More design inspiration and sharing continues on the blog, but for now, wishing you all a fantastic day!

  1. Don't hire Vasi ypsilantis. This review is my opinion based on my experience with Vasi Ypsilantis and her Company, The Breakfast Room. In 2013 I decided to purchase a property and build a waterfront home. The dream was to build a beautiful home so my family and friends could enjoy it together. I hired the top local builder>. I also decided to hire a designer to make the process seamless and make sure no mistakes were made. I also wanted the house to be carefully designed for function and beauty. After interviewing a number of designers, I hired Vasi Ypsilantis at The Breakfast Room. This was a huge mistake. After 2 years of construction, she did not even begin the interior design process. The house construction was complete but the powder room was not designed. No wallpaper selected. No sink selected, no toilet, just raw space. We never went shopping for furniture. We never went shopping for lighting. We never went shopping for the stone backsplash in the kitchen. In the master bedroom, the wrong sinks were installed and had to be replaced, and the countertop replaced due to this mistake. In one of the bedroom bathrooms she installed faucet and hardware which I did not select or approve. In the kitchen, Vasi decided to change the entire style of the hood without discussion or permission. 2 bathroom cabinets were installed with damage. The kitchen cabinets do not stay closed and pop open ALL day. The tiles for the niches and window jams were wrought with many errors. During this whole process, she traveled to Italy, Greece, and she was busy with some design show in Florida. Literally no interior design was done. I told her that I think she is too disorganized. She agreed and told me she was waiting for her daughter Chrystalla Neocleous to finish design school to help her at the company. I pre-paid her for this interior design work. I asked to have a meeting to discuss termination of the relationship and reimbursement for the work not completed. I was not asking for any money back for the errors for the work that was completed. Vasi and her husband Chris Neocleous refused to give me my money back for services not rendered, so I was forced to hire an attorney to resolve this problem. My recommendation, do not hire Vasi, or anyone at The Breakfast Room. There are many other high end designers, who are professional, talented, and organized. Vasi does not possess any of these qualities. Her daughter gave her 5 star review on google for her mommy to boost her online profile. This is the kind of person you are dealing with. Not honest at all.
