Our Soho Interior Design Project Published in Scotland

It has been a nice start to the Fall season for us at Mehditash Design,

as we were thrilled to be included in the Andrew Martin International Design Review Award book...

as well as hearing that our Soho Apartment design project was also featured in Scotland's Home & Interiors Magazine Oct/Nov 2014 issue.

Here is a glimpse of the project and the feature that I get to share here today.

HOMES & INTERIORS SCOTLAND OCTOBER 2014

"Zesty color combinations, inviting textures and some inspired textile choices have transformed this spacious apartment in Manhattan's historic Wooster Street into a refreshingly relaxed family home. The New York loft might have started life in the 1970s as the last resort of impoverished artists so desperate to work that they'd squat in droughty industrial units, but the concept has come a long way since."  Read more here

This project, which was the second home I designed for this lovely couple, is in the heart of Soho and has all the NYC characteristics one would expect of that Loft like environment, and yet still remains comfortable and cozy for this growing family of 4.

The open dining room / living room floor plan enjoys a contemporary travertine fireplace wall while on the opposing end enjoys a large TV viewing area. Deciding to open this floor plan and have both 9' sofas side by side, allowed for multiple uses of this home and to great result acting as both family room and formal entertaining living area simultaneously.

While the walls in the main living space have bee left white, the 3 bedrooms enjoy both wallcoverings and decorative paint finishes that add the touch of color and pattern that many have grown to associate with my design.

Could not be more grateful to the amazing PR Team led by Andrew Joseph.

Get Ready for the Holidays in Style - Join Me at WestEdge Design Fair

What an exciting month this has been so far, and we are only getting started!
October is filled with Design events, trade shows and home tours throughout the country and as some of you that follow along on my Instagram would have seen my tour through the homes at the Fall edition of Palm Springs Modernism Week - and they were fantastic. I will be sharing more detailed images of those tours on California Home+Design and here later on but for now, I wanted to make sure that for those of you still working on your weekend calendars to take note as High Point Market opens in North Carolina and WestEdge Design Fair starts tomorrow in Los Angeles. So from coast to coast, I have got you covered as I take part in both Design Trade Shows this season.

For those that remember my last post, I am part of a group of very talented designers that have produced hand drawn sketches for a vignette which will be revealed in Market Square during High Point, and will also be taking over the @DesignOnHighPoint Instagram account on Tuesday of next week with some finds from the show.

Before I head out to High Point myself, I could not miss the WestEdge Design Fair, in its second year, as it showcases contemporary vendors and artisans from around the country to this very eager LA Audience.

I will be moderating a panel for California Home+Design Magazine,
"The Art of Entertaining for the Holidays in California"
on Sunday, which is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, from 11.30am-12.30
and have the pleasure of having both interior designer David Dalton and Joey Corrigan from Sticks and Stones Floral Design.

David Dalton is an acclaimed interior designer, with an office in Los Angeles, California, however with designs reaching across the globe. Featured in many television and shelter magazines, David's designs have been widely published and recognized for his classic design aesthetic and international appeal.

Some may recall the fun 3 part episode for Editor at Large that David and I filmed with The Antiques Diva as we toured the Paris Flea Markets in January.

Joey Corrigan will be sharing his love of floral design, as many clients have sought him out as one of Beverly Hills' premier floral / event design firms.

We hope to get you all kick started for the Holiday Season, with plenty of ideas and inspiration from the pros, whether it is Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah or any in between, there will be plenty of ideas and takeaways so please do not miss this event.
Register for the Show and Panels on Sunday here.

Andrew Martin International Design Awards - We Made It!

I have some truly AMAZING News to share with all of you!

As some of you may know .. (at least I sure hope so!) I am an interior designer.

Yes I write a design blog *hm`hmm* and yes I dabble in editorial work for California Home+Design BUT.. I AM an interior designer. That is what I have done since starting my own firm with my husband and partner in crime back in 1999!

So, today is a VERY - and I MEAN VERY - special day as Mehditash Design is one of a very select group of American Design firms featured in the Exclusive International Andrew Martin Design Review.
The Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year award attracts entries from all over the globe and is described as
"The Oscars for the interior design world"."  - The Times

Designers with amazing careers such as Kelly Hoppen, the first recipient of this award, and US designers such as Jamie Drake, Thomas Pheasant and the like have been featured in past issues so I am truly humbled and honored to be among these incredible designers and it is a career highlight!!

For more in depth images please visit Mehditash Design, all beautifully taken by the fantastic Stacey van Berkel and styled by Raina Kattelson. I am forever indebted to these lovely ladies and their help in making this happen.

Lastly, but most certainly not the least, my lovely clients that allow me to make the magic happen every day for them. They are gracious and kind and have supported my firm's growth since the very first day.

I will be sharing some additional images from this Soho apartment in the next few posts with details that didn't make the cut so stay tuned!
